Ah, to be a kid again. Anytime I have that thought as I’m making my executive level decisions in my executive level chair with my executive level consequences, sometimes I hum the tune, “back in the day when I was young I’m not a kid anymore but some days I sit and wish I was a kid again” by Ahmad. Now, don’t get me wrong, being an adult can be what’s up…especially when you get to do super awesome stuff like sip French martinis or hang out with real friends or treat yourself to spa vacations in Tucson. But wouldn’t it be cool, just for a moment or two to be transported back to a time when you could color and do cartwheels, read books and sing songs, ride bikes with friends until the street lights came on without a care in the world – or a thought about what bills are due?
I guess that’s why God invented nieces and nephews. So you could experience moments like those. Below are some snaps from my latest excursion with my niece Sarah, a budding artist who wants to be a brain surgeon and a scientist when she grows up. We trekked through the Shedd Aquarium and the Field Museum and explored our Sunday away.
